As the sweater grows smaller the pile of goodies for the kids gets bigger. Here we have what is left of our 8.5 cent sweater, and from it we have made 3 items so far. The accumulative home-made items are as follows, 2 hats and 1 set of slipper socks seen in the last post of “Sweaterific”. Our total cost per item is now sitting at around 2.8 cents, unless I can squeeze out another item. If I can conquer 1 more item with this sweater, our total would be 2.1 cents an item. Sounds like a challenge to me…BRING ON THE SWEATER!
There was a whole sweater minus the sleeves to work with. We hacked a little off the right and made something for winter.
Hat number one! Would not have been complete unless we stole a flower from the arrangement in the hallway. The flowers were too tempting sitting on the recycled library shelves 😉
Making the first hat left the sweater lopsided. We had to cut off the other side, just can’t leave something uneven.
Hat number 2 I just love and so does Isabelle. There may be an ownership issue over this hat. It was supposed to be for one of the smaller girls, but they may have a fight on their hands. For now I think it should hide in the foyer bench and we can just deal with the fashion brawl when the snow starts to fall.
Hm we still have a little less than half a sweater left, what shall we do with it? Think, think, have to come up with something but not kill my sewing machine with the thickness.
