Everyday Dose Of Reality
I know I have been missing in action for a few days, so, I’ll bring you up to speed. As of this past Tuesday all our kids, including the 3 year old are in school during the day. I have not been without children since the fall of 1995, to say I was in shock Tuesday come 6:45 am after the kids got on the bus, would be an understatement. The husband and I walked around the house for roughly 5 minutes listening to nothing. During minute 6, he promptly pulled his clothing off and ran through the house and up the hallways buck naked. Then an hour later after all the sneezing stopped and a chill set in, he had gotten dressed and pulled the 4 wheeler out. Time to take a ride!
Here is what we learned about our new found freedom. Given the chance…we will do really dumb things. We jumped on the 4 wheeler and off we went to find the trails. 10 minutes later we were at the Little Turtle Lake store. That morning it was a balmy 38 degrees, and we had to stop somewhere to chip the ice off our faces. Bought hot coffee to throw on our faces, 2 pairs of gloves and each a new sweat shirt to put over the ones we were wearing already. We also did get a map, which turned out to be no help whatsoever. Upon detailed map investigation, trail reference comparisons some 30 minutes into the ride, we did the only thing we could do. We can now put a check mark next to “have sex in the woods” on our bucket list. With newly found energy, we continued our journey and finally made it home. Into the truck we jumped to go grocery shopping.
Do you have any idea how quiet it is to shop with no kids? I felt bad at the deli counter though. I was ordering the meats and I saw a hand reach out to grab a dip and smacked it. Yes, I did apologize to the husband, it is a natural reaction when you shop with children swarming like butterflies. We then topped off the first day alone with my dentist appointment. I realized while filling out the paper work I haven’t had my teeth cleaned or really checked since I was 17. Did I mention I just turned the big 4-0 as well 🙂 That brings you pretty much up to speed for the most part.
