Everyday dose of Reality
Last night we had a hell of a storm and my garden paid the price. Well, not the entire garden, just all the corn. Until last night I had 4 beautiful two foot high rows of corn, and then the storm hit. 70 mile an hour winds, a massive downpour of rain, and then the hail hit. Poor things are busted, blown across the yard or up rooted. I spent this morning replanting any stalk that was salvageable and we will see how it plays out. It isn’t easy risking life, limb and BLOOD with this years batch of enormous horse flies.
The good news is my radishes are plentiful this year. I went out this morning, after saving what corn I could, and thinned out the radishes. Trouble is, my kids are like rabbits. About 30 were brought into the house and once I had cleaned them, only 10 made it to the fridge. I do believe radishes are the simplest thing and first, to be ready to take out of the garden. At least I have succeeded in that arena, I’ll keep you posted on my corn with PSD – post storm depression.
