Everyday dose of Reality
Macgyver & I just finished watching the movie Machine Gun Preacher and I have to say I think it was pretty damn good. Now I know there are a lot of people that don’t like the way he works down there in Sudan, but at least he is there. There are lots of things going on there that will never make the media in any form. Most people have written Africa off. Sam Childers may be saving children with guns strapped to his back, and some find huge issues with that. However, we are talking about a country that has almost always been at war. Would you feel safe trying to have peace talks over groups of children, with a man pointing a gun at you?
Sometimes, just sometimes, you have to take it to the mat. Push the envelope. Fight fire with fire. And sometimes, people start to get the point that not everyone will lay down for you. You can’t just ravage the people and dispose of them like piles of crap. If it is Sam Childers that carries the hopes of children and people who live in this ravaged land, so be it. One person can make a change. It may not be how the country is run or peace creeping over all the land. But…One person can cause people to unite together and bring to light where others have strayed to make it better.
My grandma used to say, “child, things can always get worse”. True, very true. On the flip side, things can always get better. It is a long fall to the bottom and the climb back up is just as steep.
