I have been needing a lamp for the living room and yesterday I finally found one. Living in an old school means the lack of wall outlets outside of classrooms is a given. The gym is our living room/dining room and the lights are 30 feet up in the air. The distance makes it a wee bit hard to read now that Macgyver has changed out the stadium light for 1.3 watt LED lights. For a year now I have been wanting to set up a sitting area with a lamp so the kids and I can read this winter. We have all moved back to the gym for another winter, while Macgyver works on the new heating system for the rest of the house.
Yesterday while out and about we stopped at a secondhand shop and I found a lamp. The thing was uggggg-ly. But, nothing a can of stone textured spray paint couldn’t fix. I grabbed it, brought it home and painted that sucker. Next I had Macgyver print off the saying “Happily Ever After” in a pretty font and taped it to the inside of the lamp shade. I would have printed it off but my printer doesn’t want to be a printer. I think it wants to be a boat anchor. Then I found my hand dandy black Sharpie marker and traced the font so it would bleed through the paper to the shade. Lastly, I removed the paper and then traced over the font bleed through to make it more solid on the lamp shade. Poof! Another easy personalized project done as well as the sitting area, but you will have to wait to see the reading nook when I post the annual house video update.
