What do you do with old Ice Skates

What do you do with old ice skates? Recycle them! In one of the bags of clothing a cousin gave me there was an old beat up set of ice skates. You know I am always up for a project & with winter around the corner, and I mean pretty much this weekend…I put my booty in gear. I had an idea for something wintery to hang outside the front door of our school/home.
The ice skates in question, pre-recycling.
First step was to spray paint them red. Next was to touch up the black heels & clean up the blades. Then I free hand drew some snowflakes and then traced them with glue. Last I covered the glue with glitter.
Instead of going out into the woods to get branches to make a swag, I headed down to Spring Lake Store. A mile down the road, way up here in the north woods, is an old time store run by this wonderful woman named Dee. You know, the type of store where you can get a credit line still, before the world and people’s morals generally went to crapola. Every fall in the month of October people in the state of Minnesota are busy as beavers whipping out swags, evergreen garlands & fresh cut wreaths. I decided to buy local instead of tromping through the woods, besides I will have to do that soon enough for the annual evergreen kitchen window display. Thanks for making the beautiful swag Dee 🙂
