here in North Minnesota we are still getting snow and we are tired of it, so I started making snowshoes. Last weekend we went for a walk in the woods and we kept sinking. I sunk so much I had to crawl several times just to move ahead. It doesn’t look like the snow is going to leave and in fact we are having another snow storm today. After last weekend I started making everyone snowshoes. Here is what I came up with for us.
I started off with some saplings.
And a 4 year old making faces, because no project is complete without one.
First set of homemade snowshoes. I used a plastic bottle for the snow guard. Yep, you know me recycle and reuse. I didn’t have a lot of twine to make the normal web snow guard so I had to come up with something.
Sierra with the first try before perfecting the ties to keep the shoe on.
new and improved. OK I ran out of twine and had to move to zip ties to hold the guards on after using a paper hold punch.
Test victim the deranged 6 year old fairy.
VICTORY! She can walk and stay on top of the snow.
Walking off into the sunset, who am I fooling, we don’t get sun. Walking off into a snow storm 🙂
