Pet beds from recycled Sweaters

It has been a number of years since I have made a pet bed from an old sweater, but I made one today for Mr. Tom. See, Miss LuLu sleeps in her cat clubhouse and Tom is not interested in it at all. Today I decided to make something just for him, so I hit my pile of old sweaters waiting to be recycled or upcycled into something new.
first pick your sweater out and sew a circle in the middle. Remember to leave an opening to stuff the circle. You c an use stuffing, batting, an old pillow or fabric pieces.
Now take your cuffs and sew them together and then stuff the middle. close off your circle and we are ready to handle the outside ring.
Once the center is stuffed and closed it is time to make your outside ring. Lay the seam of the sleeves to the side seams of the body of the sweater and sew them. If you follow from one side to the other sewing, try to place your wrist cuffs in the center of your waistband of the sweater when sewing them together. This will give you almost 2 inches between the sleeve seam and center pillow seam. Plenty of room for a fat cat to sprawl out. I leave the neckline open to stuff the sleeves.
Stuff the arms and sew the neckline closed. I used a slip stitch for the neckline on this bed.
Grab cat or small-ish dog for a test run on their new pet bed.
It has now been Mr. Tom approved!
This is such a great idea!
Thank You. It is an old idea but a nice easy one to share and is very useful.
How cool is this! I’m going to make one.
I have run into an issue though. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs that are too big for these beds. I have made 2 beds for the cats but I so want to make more and do find it hard not to make them. Maybe I should check with the neighbors and start passing out cat beds hahaha
